Geosciences

Throughout your studies on the READY MSc program, you’ll be tackling real-world problems in subsurface site characterisation for renewable energy applications. To help prepare you for this teaching program, we have put together the following playlists of introductory-level videos covering key topics in the geosciences. These are primarily aimed at those students whose background is not in the geosciences, but we encourage all of our new students to review these materials.

Climate and environment

This playlist introduces the earth’s climate system and the drivers of climate change - both natural and anthropogenic.

Atmosphere and oceans

This playlist covers the drivers behind atmospheric and ocean circulations. These circulations are key to understanding the earth’s climate, as well as creating wind and marine renewable energies.

Geoscience

This final playlist covers topics in geoscience, including soils, rocks and plate tectonics, as well as common geological environments such as rivers, glaciers and the ocean floor.
